Background
ZOTAC is the original maker of some of the world's smallest, most powerful Mini PCs. The smallest of these fully featured workstations can be as small as a pack of gum, while the most powerful of these can be the size of merely a takeout lunch box. These are compact but powerful computers responsible for powering tens of thousands of digital signage across the country. Although the brand has been around for 10 years, ZOTAC is still one of the more unexplored brands to the public.
Goals
Our goal for the packaging redesign was a multifaceted one: It needs to raise brand awareness, act as the brand ambassador, be informative, stand out from the crowd, and able to scale with growing lines of products. One of the early challenges for our team was: how do we accomplish all of that under an extremely tight budget constraint?
Results
We made sure the design language was bold and iconic while using materials that are both cost-effective and eco-friendly. In terms of copywriting, information, and design, we bucked the trend of the typical cold and measured approach in the computer industry and opted for an engaging and conversational voice to be approachable for prospective consumers (especially those who are not computer experts).
The result is a series of eye-catching designs that easily stands out from a sea of sameness. It presents info in a clear, concise and memorable fashion. It reflects the ingenuity of the products and ZOTAC’s honest and direct approach to the consumer. It becomes a powerful sales tool. The conversation begins, the moment you pick up the box.
